What Is a Pediatric Dentist?
Very young children, pre-teens and teenagers all require different approaches to dealing with their dental behavior, guiding their dental growth and development and helping them avoid future dental problems. Our dentist is trained to meet these needs.
Your Child’s First Visit
Your child’s dental care is very important to their development. We know visiting the dentist for the first time can be scary, so Arista Dental Clinic is happy to treat your child while he or she sits on your lap. Our goal is to develop a relationship with your child and to encourage proper oral hygiene that will last a lifetime.
The Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends an oral health consultation as soon as your child’s first tooth comes in or by their first birthday at the latest. Most children have a full set of baby teeth by age 3 and as many as 1 in 4 children has a cavity by age 4.
At this first visit, we’ll check for tooth decay and other dental problems, but we’ll also demonstrate how to clean and care for your child’s teeth and how to deal with other oral issues like teething and thumb sucking.
